******** update, 6/15/17 – WE WILL BE SWITCHING TO OUR NEW SITE IN THE NEXT FEW MONTHS – PLEASE CHECK OUT ASLCORE.ORG ********
We are proud and excited to introduce to you the first ever ASL Philosophy Resource ! As this site grows you will find signed samples of vocabulary and concepts which commonly occur in introductory level Philosophy courses. Our content expert is Dr. Teresa Blankmeyer Burke, from Gallaudet University. Our ASL sign masters/translators are Patrick Graybill, Will Hayes, Ruth Anna Spooner, and Rita Straubhaar. They all spent a week together in a translation “boot camp” from June 8-12th, 2015, and again from July 5-8, 2016, in Rochester, NY on the campus of the National Technical Institute for the Deaf, one of 9 colleges of the Rochester Institute of Technology. This project was funded by an NTID Innovation Award proposed by Sarah Cannon, Miriam Lerner, and Sarah Schneckenburger who are staff interpreters with the Department of Access Services at NTID/RIT. Please enjoy your look around our site ! We will be adding videos, transcripts, explanations, and more ! We hope you will find the contents useful as you delve into the wonderful world of Philosophical engagement !
